John
Dwain Tissell

30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. John 5:30 (NIV)

1. GREAT FAITH IS SYNONYMOUS WITH GREAT SURRENDER.

38 "For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:38-40 (NIV)

49 "For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it.
50 I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say." John 12:49-50 (NIV)

10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. John 14:10-13 (NIV)

2. GREAT SURRENDER MEANS LIVING LIKE GOD IS WHO HE SAYS HE IS, AND HE HAS BETTER IDEAS ABOUT HOW TO LIVE THAN YOU DO.

14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)

3. SURRENDER IS THE INVITATION OF YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER TO COME ALIVE IN YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

Simon Magnus - Acts 8:9-25

When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money
19 and said, "Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."
20 Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! Acts 8:18-20 (NIV)
