Mark 1:1-8
Dwain Tissell
1This is the Good News about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. Mark 1:1a (NLT)
1. WHATEVER YOU FEEL, THE NEWS YOU'VE GOT IS GOOD.
16Yet preaching the Good News is not something I can boast about. I am compelled by God to do it. How terrible for me if I didn't preach the Good News! 1 Corinthians 9:16 (NLT)
It began 2just as the prophet Isaiah had written:
"Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,
and he will prepare your way.
3 He is a voice shouting in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the LORD's coming!
Clear the road for him!'" Mark 1:1b-3 (NLT)
2. WHEREVER YOU FIND YOURSELF, GOD HAS ALREADY BEEN THERE.
4This messenger was John the Baptist. He was in the wilderness and preached that people should be baptized to show that they had turned to God to receive forgiveness for their sins. Mark 1:4(NLT)
15All who confess that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. 1 John 4:15 (NLT)
5All of Judea, including all the people of Jerusalem, went out to see and hear John. And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River. 6His clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey.
7John announced: "Someone is coming soon who is greater than I am-so much greater that I'm not even worthy to stoop down like a slave and untie the straps of his sandals. 8I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit!" Mark 1:5-8 (NLT)
3. WHOEVER YOU FEAR, IT'S STILL NOT ABOUT YOU.
28 "Then, after doing all those things,
I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your old men will dream dreams,
and your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28 (NLT)
