GREATNESS EVERY DAY

“This is so you – New Life” – Part 2

June 10th, 2007, Father’s Day

Ephesians 1:15-23

Dwain Tissell

1.  HOW TO FIND TRUE GREATNESS.

15Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere, 16I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, 17asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. Ephesians 1:15-17 (NLT)

w  GAZE

God has become my strength—

6    he says:

“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant

to raise up the tribes of Jacob

    and to bring back the preserved of Israel;

I will make you as a light for the nations,

that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”

Isaiah 49:5c-6 (ESV)

18I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand… Ephesians 1:18a (NLT)

w ASK

You do not have, because you do not ask. James 4:2 (ESV)

18I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. Ephesians 1:18 (NLT)

w HOPE

4For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. Ephesians 4:4 (NLT)

15“‘Who are you, lord?’ I asked.

“And the Lord replied, ‘I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting. 16Now get to your feet! For I have appeared to you to appoint you as my servant and witness. You are to tell the world what you have seen and what I will show you in the future. 17And I will rescue you from both your own people and the Gentiles. Yes, I am sending you to the Gentiles 18to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’ Acts 26:15-18 (NLT)

2.  HOW TO LIVE GREATNESS.

19I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 1:19-20 (NLT)

w POWER UP

21He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control. Philippians 3:21 (NLT)

21Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come.  Ephesians 1:21 (NLT)

w BELIEVE

9Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. 10When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything.

Colossians 2:9-10 (MSG)

22God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself. Ephesians 1:22-23 (NLT)

w DO

18Don’t tolerate people who try to run your life, ordering you to bow and scrape, insisting that you join their obsession with angels and that you seek out visions. They’re a lot of hot air, that’s all they are. 19They’re completely out of touch with the source of life, Christ, who puts us together in one piece, whose very breath and blood flow through us. He is the Head and we are the body. We can grow up healthy in God only as he nourishes us. Colossians 2:16-19 (MSG)

[W]e will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Ephesians 4:15 (NLT)
