Proverbs 3:5-6
Dwain Tissell

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart

1. TRUST THAT GOD KNOWS BETTER THAN YOU,

This is what the LORD says:
"Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD... The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17; 5,9 (NIV)

and lean not on your own understanding;

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1 (NIV)

5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD. Psalm 4:5 (NIV)

6 in all your ways acknowledge him,

2. ACKNOWLEDGE THAT HE KNOWS BEST IN EVERYTHING,

11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people he chose for his inheritance.
13 From heaven the LORD looks down
and sees all mankind;
14 from his dwelling place he watches
all who live on earth-
15 he who forms the hearts of all,
who considers everything they do. Psalm 33:11-15 (NIV)

and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

3. YOUR OUTCOMES WILL BE GOD'S BEST.

1 King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh's daughter-Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. 2 They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, "You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods." Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. 3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father had been. 1 Kings 11:1-4 (NIV)
