Dwain Tissell
Ex 14:1 Then the LORD said to Moses,
Ex 14:2 "Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon.
Ex 14:3 Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.'
Ex 14:4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD." So the Israelites did this. Exodus 14:1-4
1. WHEN GOD IS GAINING GLORY HE WANTS YOU TO GET THE BLESSINGS. BUT... THAT CAN BE UNCOMFORABLE
Ex 14:10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD.
Ex 14:11 They said to Moses, "Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?
Ex 14:12 Didn't we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians?' It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!"
Ex 14:13 Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.
Ex 14:14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still." Exodus 14:10-14
2. WHEN GOD IS GAINING GLORY HE ASKS YOU FOR NOTHING.
BUT... THAT CAN BE UNCOMFORABLE
Ge 34:5 When Jacob heard that his daughter Dinah had been defiled, his sons were in the fields with his livestock; so he did nothing about it until they came home. Genesis 34:5
Ro 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
Ro 11:34 "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"
Ro 11:35 "Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?"
Ro 11:36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen Romans 11:33-36
Ex 14:15 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.
Ex 14:16 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.
Ex 14:17 I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen.
Ex 14:18 The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen." Exodus 14:15-18
3. WHEN GOD IS GAINING GLORY HE ASKS YOU TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THAT KNOWLEDGE.
BUT... THAT CAN BE UNCOMFORABLE
Jn 12:26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
