A WAY OUT OF THE PACK

Romans 12:1-3

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is true worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 (TNIV)

 

1. TRUE BELIEFS,

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, v. 2a

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
33 They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?"
34 Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:31-36 (TNIV)


6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 (TNIV)


2. CAUSE BETTER DECISIONS,


but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. v. 2b

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."
20 Where are the wise? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 1 Corinthians 1:18-20


3. RESULTING IN GOD'S WILL BEING DONE.


Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. v. 2c
