Treasure Quest 2

Lesson 2 Treasure Quest...

Lesson Goal:

The children will understand that because God showed His love by giving His best to us, we should also show love by giving our best.

Main Point:

God Gave His Best, I Should Give My Best!

Bible Verse:

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son. John 3:16a (NLT)

Today, your children learned about giving their best. They learned that "giving your best" means to go above and beyond what is asked.

On stage Kit and Andi helped us learn about giving your best when Kit kept giving Andi various jobs to do. First, Andi was given the task of keeping watch at night for a few hours. Andi went above and beyond what was asked by keeping watch the whole night. Next, Andi was given the task of retrieving fresh water from a river two miles away! Once again, Andi went above and beyond by completing the task not once, but twice. Finally, Andi was given the task of picking a bunch of bananas. Once again Andi went above and beyond by picking a bunch of bananas and a coconut too. Soon after, they found the second stone on their quest: The Birth Stone.
To free the stone from the tablet, once again, they had to study a Bible story. The Bible story today was about the birth of Jesus. God announced that He was going to do something big. He was giving a gift to the entire world! The gift was His Son, Jesus. After Jesus was born, He was visited by wise men from the east. They presented Jesus with very rare and costly gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. They knew that God had given His best when He gave us Jesus, they responded by giving their best too. Andi explained that was the reason why we should always give our best.

God showed us he loved us by giving His best. We show love when we give our best as well. Remind your children this week to give their best no matter if they are at school, at home or just having fun with friends. Giving our best means going above and beyond what is asked of us.
