What We Believe
We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, and is the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine and conduct. We follow biblical principles where they are specific and clear, and leave other issues open to considerate discussion.
While maintaining that the Bible is sovereign over all creedal interpretations, we do affirm the historic creeds of the christian church, such as the Nicene Creed and the Apostles' Creed. From these, the Evangelical Covenant (to which we belong) often references six main affirmations:
- the centrality of the word of God
- the necessity of the new birth
- the church as a fellowship of believers
- a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit
- a commitment to the whole mission of the church
- the reality of freedom in Christ
You can view a short video summary of these affirmations at the Covenant website. Or if you have a specific question, come ask!
