About Us
Eastridge Church is a group of regular people at varying stages of faith, who gather around Jesus Christ as our common way to God and a complete life.
The faith that Jesus taught is relational--with God and with each other. So we focus our attention on developing three areas: loving God, loving each other and serving our world.
Loving God
Anyone can develop a sincere, lifelong love for God. It's not just for "priests" or the "super-spiritual". But neither is it automatic, because so much in life works against loving a God you can't see.
What's loving God look like?
Loving God is simply honoring him as God. And since Jesus is the image of God, you honor God by following Jesus. That means learning to live out your faith by trusting him enough to live like he taught. And the process of learning to trust him and honor him is the process of loving him!
At Eastridge this is what our weekly worship services are all about! We all get together to honor God by turning our attention toward him through singing, and then hearing what he has to say to us through scripture. But it's no "insiders' club". In fact this is where many people come to start considering the claims of Christ for themselves. Our doors are open to all.
Loving Each Other
But your love for God is incomplete unless you're also learning to love the people around you. The good thing is that, since God loves all people, loving him and loving each other are two sides of the same coin!
Again, reality shows us that life gives us plenty of reasons not to love the people around us. Usually it's just because we're so busy, but other times it's because of fear or bitterness or selfishness. But the goal for the growing christian is to genuinely love the people around us.
So at Eastridge we encourage everyone to join a small group of others who are also interested in growing their faith. Small Groups allow us to develop deeper friendships than we can in the larger group setting. Here we learn more about what Jesus taught, but in the context of friends supporting each other. We don't lock anyone into a small group that they can't get out of. But typically, these people become some of your best friends. They're the people you can call on in time of need. And they're also the people that you're glad to give up a Saturday for when they have a need.
Serving Our World
It's natural to want to help the people you love. And as you begin to track with God's love for all people, you'll notice the desire to help even people you don't know -- even people who will never be able to repay you. That's the nature of mature love because that's the nature of God's love.
As a church, we want to help to those who need help. Whether it's weekly service opportunities here in our home town, or short term mission trips around the world, we are pooling our talents and resources together to train and equip each other to serve our world. Love serves because love cares.
Open Invitation
Believing that each person has a unique and valuable perspective, we eagerly invite any and all (you!) to come help us learn to love God, love each other, and serve our world together.
